Progress tops women’s category as Ekiti duo excels at FIFA referees course

Samuel Progress emerged as the overall best participant in the women’s category at the recently concluded FIFA Referees Development Course, leading an impressive outing for officials from the Ekiti State Football Referees’ Council.

Progress finished first overall in her category, while Ape Ayodeji Kolawole recorded a standout performance in the men’s assistant referees fitness assessment, underscoring the quality of officiating talent being developed in Ekiti State.

Chairman of the Ekiti State Football Referees’ Council, Onilearo Kayode, hailed the achievements as a product of hard work, discipline and commitment. He said the performances reflected the council’s sustained efforts to develop referees capable of competing and excelling at the highest levels of football officiating.

According to him, the accomplishments of both officials have not only brought recognition to the individuals involved but have also enhanced the profile of the Ekiti State Football Referees’ Council on the national stage.

Onilearo congratulated Progress and Kolawole for their dedication to excellence and encouraged them to remain focused as they pursue greater heights in their refereeing careers.

He also reaffirmed the council’s commitment to expanding opportunities for training, mentorship and professional development to ensure more referees from the state attain national and international recognition.

Members of the council joined in congratulating the two officials, describing their performances as a source of pride for football officiating in Ekiti State.
