Ekiti Queens Mark Return to Oluyemi Kayode Stadium with Win Over Pacesetters
Ekiti Queens FC marked their return to the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium with a composed 2–0 victory over Pacesetters Queens in their Nigeria Women Football League Matchday 15 encounter on Wednesday.
Playing at home for the first time in 126 days following their temporary relocation to Abeokuta, the hosts delivered a performance that reflected both control and intent, while also completing a season double over their South-West rivals.
Ekiti Queens started on the front foot, with Olamide Olanrenwaju, Joke Adeyemo and Ismail Zainab leading a lively attacking display that consistently unsettled the visitors’ defence. In midfield, Yaro Patience, Endurance Omoraka and Odun Olaleye dictated the tempo, ensuring the home side maintained dominance in possession and transition.
Despite their superiority in the opening half, Ekiti Queens were denied the lead by a resilient Pacesetters goalkeeper, whose series of saves kept the contest goalless at the break.
The breakthrough came in the 51st minute when Joke Adeyemo reacted quickest to turn home a goal-bound effort from Odun Olaleye, giving the hosts a deserved lead.
Ekiti Queens maintained their intensity as the game progressed and were rewarded late on when a penalty was awarded after Olanrenwaju was brought down in the box. Substitute Winifred Eyebhoria stepped up and calmly converted in the 87th minute to seal the victory.
The result not only secured all three points but also reaffirmed Ekiti Queens’ dominance over Pacesetters, having recorded an identical 2–0 win in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.
For Ekiti Queens, it was a fitting return to familiar ground—one defined by control, efficiency, and a result that keeps their campaign firmly on track.
