Ekiti United Dismisses Reports of Coach Bola Idris’ Resignation

Ekiti United Football Club has refuted reports claiming that Coach Bola Idris resigned from his position with the club.

In a rejoinder issued on Wednesday, the club described the reports as inaccurate, clarifying that the coach’s appointment was for a specified period and had naturally expired at the end of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.

According to the statement signed by the club’s Media Officer, Blessing Akinyemi, Coach Idris did not tender any resignation letter as reported in some quarters.

“Our attention has been drawn to a report alleging that Coach Bola Idris resigned from his position with Ekiti United FC. This information is inaccurate and requires clarification,” the statement read.

The club explained that Coach Idris was engaged on a temporary basis and that his tenure came to an end upon the completion of the agreed term.

“Upon the completion of the agreed term, his appointment naturally came to an end at the conclusion of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League season. Therefore, his departure should not be misconstrued as a resignation but rather as the expiration of a fixed-term appointment,” the statement added.

Ekiti United further expressed appreciation to the coach for his service and commitment during his time with the club, wishing him success in his future endeavours.

The clarification follows reports that the coach had stepped down from his role after the conclusion of the NNL season.
