Two Ekiti Players Earn Nigeria Call-Up for 2025 African Women’s Youth Handball Championship
Ekiti’s Oluwalade Phebe and Momodu Joy Veronica of Ekiti Queens have been handed national team invitations to represent Nigeria at the 2025 African Women’s Youth Handball Championship in Algeria.
Their inclusion came after the final shortlist of players was drawn from weeks of intensive camping in Lagos. The championship, billed for 14th–21st September 2025 in Oran, will not only crown Africa’s finest but also determine qualifiers for the 2026 Women’s Youth World Handball Championship and the IHF Women’s Intercontinental Phase.
Nigeria, placed in Group A, will lock horns with Angola, Tunisia, Kenya, Benin Republic, and Madagascar. Group B contains hosts Algeria, defending champions Egypt, Guinea, Burkina Faso, and Zambia. The Nigerian team departs for Algeria this Thursday, with all eyes on their continental charge.
