Who Made the Cut? Ekiti United Reveal 27-Man Squad, Unveil Jersey Ahead of NLO Kickoff

With anticipation building ahead of the new Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) season, Ekiti United FC has officially unveiled their 27-man squad and new jersey, setting the stage for their promotion push.

The unveiling, which took place at the office of the Governor’s Technical Advisor on Sports Development, Dr. Olusola Osetoba, marks a major step in the team’s preparation. The home and away kits, along with training wear, were revealed as players and staff pledged their readiness for the campaign.

Speaking during the ceremony, Dr. Osetoba emphasized the importance of unity and discipline, noting the strong team spirit within the squad.

“The unity I see in this team is a valuable asset. It takes team spirit to achieve success in football,” she said, urging the players to “give their best and return home with the promotion ticket.”

Dr. Osetoba also reiterated the unwavering support of the Ekiti State Government for the team’s NNL promotion ambition, stating that the administration remains committed to youth empowerment through sports.

Led by captain Adewale Makanjuola, the 27-player roster includes a carefully selected mix of goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and attackers—all chosen through a rigorous screening process. Coach Salau Rotimi expressed confidence in the squad’s readiness and technical depth.

“These players were picked based on merit and performance. We believe they are capable of flying the state’s flag high,” Coach Rotimi said.

While the official kickoff date of the league has been shifted to April 22, a star match is expected on April 15 to raise the curtain. Ekiti United, placed in Group I, will compete in Ijebu Ode alongside other clubs from Ekiti, Ondo, and Edo states.
