Ekiti Appoints Technical Crews for State Owned Teams Ahead of 2026/27 Season
The Ekiti State Government has announced the appointment of the technical and backroom staff for its state-owned football clubs, Ekiti United FC and Ekiti Queens FC, as well as their feeder teams, ahead of the 2026/2027 football season.
The appointments were announced on Friday by the Technical Advisor on Sports Development to the Governor, Dr. Olusola Osetoba, as preparations begin for the new football campaign.
According to the statement, most of the appointed officials are returning members of the technical and support crews who have worked with the clubs over the past two seasons. The government said the decision reflects its commitment to rewarding hard work, loyalty and proven performance.
Dr. Osetoba emphasized that the appointments should be regarded as a privilege and not an entitlement, urging all members of the technical and backroom staff to demonstrate professionalism, discipline, commitment and measurable improvement throughout the season.
The state government has also set clear objectives for its football teams. Ekiti United FC has been tasked with securing promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), while Ekiti Queens FC is expected to qualify for continental club competition.
To support these ambitions, the government reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of players and technical officials while continuing to invest in sports infrastructure across the state.
Among the recent investments is the reconstruction and upgrade of the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, including the installation of a state-of-the-art artificial turf and other facility improvements aimed at providing a conducive environment for football development.
“The time for excuses is over; the time for work has started,” Dr. Osetoba said while calling on players, coaches and support staff to justify the confidence reposed in them and make the 2026/2027 season a breakthrough campaign for football in Ekiti State.
The newly appointed technical crews will oversee the senior teams and feeder sides of both Ekiti United FC and Ekiti Queens FC as preparations intensify for the new season.
The appointments take immediate effect.
