Ekiti United Set for Ijebu Ode Battle — Can They Conquer NLO Group I?
With the clock ticking toward the start of the 2024/25 Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) season, the stakes are high and expectations even higher for Ekiti United FC, who are now set to begin their campaign at the Ijebu Ode Centre, battling for promotion from a tough Group I.
The group features a melting pot of teams from Ondo, Edo, and Ekiti States, including Adamimogo FC, Wonder Xchange FC, Able God FC, Reigns FC Owo, Emalex FC Owo, Rolly FC, FC Deltra, Junosa United FC, Big 100 FC, Living Voice FC, Bendel Insurance Feeders, Esan Olika FC, and fellow Ekiti sides Olukismet FC and Choice FC.

In a press release shared by Blessing Akinyemi, the Media Officer of Ekiti United FC, Team Secretary Boluwaji Idowu Samuel expressed strong confidence in the team’s readiness, while also applauding the consistent support from the Ekiti State Government and the Technical Advisor on Sports Development, Dr. Olusola Osetoba.
“The government has not only given us full backing but also made it clear that they want to see this team excel,” Samuel said. “Dr. Osetoba, in particular, has been a motherly pillar behind our progress. Her leadership and constant presence have energized our preparations.”
Head Coach Salawu Rotimi also reaffirmed the team’s preparedness.
“The boys are sharp, motivated, and hungry. We know what’s at stake, and we’re not taking this lightly. We’re going into Ijebu Ode with one thing in mind—promotion.”
According to the NLO structure, each group winner advances to one of eight playoff centers—four in the North and four in the South—where a round-robin format will determine the clubs that earn promotion to the Nigeria National League (NNL).
With a competitive group, seasoned leadership, and mounting expectations, all eyes are on Ekiti United FC to deliver results worthy of their ambition.
