During the inspection, the governor reviewed the progress of the stadium’s upgrades, including the newly acquired AstroTurf synthetic grass. He reiterated his administration’s dedication to leveraging sports for economic empowerment and human capital development.

“Sports will serve as a vehicle for wealth creation in line with our commitment to human capital development. This is why we are ensuring the right infrastructure is in place for you to showcase your talents,” Governor Oyebanji affirmed.

He assured athletes and sports stakeholders that the government remains committed to completing the construction of the ₦7.1 billion sports hall before the end of his tenure.

Reflecting on his initial visit to the stadium, he acknowledged the poor state of training facilities at the time but promised that such conditions were now being addressed.

“We are setting up world-class facilities. I appreciate the contractors for their dedication, and I am proud of the efforts of Ekiti Queens and Ekiti United. Your welfare is a priority to me, so stay committed and focused—we will continue to support your aspirations,” he added.

Governor Oyebanji also commended Hon. Akintunde Oyebode, the Commissioner of Finance, for his instrumental role in shaping the vision for sports development in the state.

Joined by Dr. Mrs. Olusola Osetoba, Technical Advisor on Sports Development, as well as Special Assistants Hon. Kola Owoseni and Hon. Tunde Adesanya, the governor toured the facility to inspect the renovation progress firsthand.

The visit underscored the administration’s determination to enhance sports infrastructure in Ekiti, fostering local talent and positioning the state for greater success in national and international sporting events.
