Ekiti Contingent Departs for Southwest Zonal Elimination, Ready for Strong Showing
The Ekiti State sports contingent will depart for the highly anticipated Southwest Zonal Elimination on Monday, February 24, with high hopes of making a strong impact in the regional competition. The team is set to return on February 28 after competing in six sporting categories: hockey, basketball, football, volleyball, handball, and beach volleyball.
Dr. Olusola Osetoba, Technical Advisor on Sports Development, confirmed the departure date and assured that the athletes are well-prepared to represent Ekiti with excellence. “The team has trained rigorously, and we are confident in their ability to compete at the highest level,” Dr Osetoba said.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji has provided full support for the team’s participation, ensuring that logistics, accommodation, feeding, and allowances for athletes and officials are adequately covered. In addition, team jerseys have been distributed to coaches, and security measures are in place to guarantee the safety of all contingent members.
