DR. OSETOBA HOSTS EKITI SPORT WRITERS ASSURES BETTER PARTNERSHIP

Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria – Dr. Olusola Osetoba, Technical Advisor to the Governor on Sport Development, played host to members of the Ekiti State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) at the Ekiti Kete Pavilion on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

The gathering, which drew sport journalists from across radio, television, online, and print media, provided Dr. Osetoba with an opportunity to express her gratitude to the sports writers for their tireless efforts in promoting Ekiti sports throughout the year. She also seized the occasion to request their support in 2025, emphasizing the crucial role they play in shaping the narrative of Ekiti sports.

Captains of Ekiti United FC and Ekiti Queens FC, who were present at the event, seconded Dr. Osetoba’s request, requesting the support of the sports writers for their respective clubs as they strive to reach the pinnacle of their respective leagues.

Leaders and members of SWAN Ekiti State chapter praised Dr. Osetoba’s efforts, acknowledging the positive impact she has had on Ekiti sports development. They assured her of their continued support, pledging to maintain their high standards of reporting and promoting Ekiti sports.

In a bid to strengthen the synergy between the association, her office and the Sport Commission, Dr. Osetoba announced plans to appoint members of SWAN as media officers for all sports associations in the state. This move is expected to provide more insight into Ekiti sports events and promote greater collaboration between stakeholders.

Notable personalities present at the event included Toyin Ayoola, first chairman of SWAN Ekiti; Bayo Babalola, former chairman of Ekiti State SWAN; Ayodeji Ogunsakin, vice president of SWAN Southwest; and Qozeem Oladapo, chairman of SWAN Ekiti State.

Dr. Osetoba’s efforts have been instrumental in transforming Ekiti sports, with notable achievements including the implementation of monthly stipends for athletes and the successful reformation of state teams.

As the sports community looks forward to 2025, Dr. Osetoba’s commitment to excellence and collaboration is expected to yield even greater results.
