Ekiti United continue friendly matches to assess potential players

Assessment of potential players will continue tomorrow Thursday with another friendly match against  Benfad FC from Akure by 8am at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado while the third  friendly match in 3 days will be against Gateway Football Academy of Ikere on Friday.

The matches are coming after Wednesday’s friendly match against Olukismet FC which ended 3 goals apiece at the Olukismet Football pitch.

According to the Team Manager, Olusola Babatola, over 60 players  including the invited and gatecrashers were assessed up till Wednesday.

He informed EUFC Media that at least half of the players have been asked to vacate the team capmp forthwith in a bid to ensure close monitoring and assessment of those deemed okay with the vision of the technical crew and the State government.

Wednesday match featured 99% of the players who all came to try their luck as the Coach Akin Olowookere led coaching crew gave them all a level playing ground to prove their mettle.

In the coming days, the players who are able to make the cut are expected to be merged with the retained players from last football season as preparations for the 2024/25 Football Season are intensified .

Since the appointment of Akin Olowookere as Head Coach of Ekiti United FC on August 1, 2024, the coaching crew has intensified efforts towards testing the skills and abilities of players from far and near that have come for screening at the club.

Meanwhile, the chances of Ekiti United Feeders to progress to the finals of the State Football League Super 8 were boosted earlier on Wednesday when Coach Femi Kumuyi led team defeated their opponent by 2 goals to 1 on match day 2 of the tournament .

With the victory, Ekiti United Feeders have now garnered 4 points from 2 matches having drawn their first match.

Their final group match comes up on Friday against Ikole United FC.
