Ekiti All Stars moves training to Christ School, complies with Government’s directive on Oluyemi Kayode Stadium pitch
Members of the Ekiti State All Stars will on Saturday converge at the Christ School for their weekly training.
A statement issued by the Public Relations Officer(PRO) of the group, Sunday About said the players are expected to arrive the Christ School Football pitch by 7am .
According to the PRO, the players of Ekiti State All Stars are to put on their blue training jersey for the Saturday training.
The All Stars while identifying with the State government’s quest to ensure the football pitch of the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado Ekiti regains it’s green grass which has become patchy and grey due to the unfavorable weather condition promised to always support the efforts of the Sports Development office headed by the Technical Advisor, Dr Olusola Osetoba at reposition Sports in Ekiti State in line with the vision of the State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji.
The All Stars urged every team and groups to comply with the directive of the State government suspending all forms of training and matches on the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium pitch at least for now .
Recall that the All Stars recently donated four long hoses to be used for the wetting of the pitch on a daily basis as directed by the Technical Advisor on Sports Development on behalf of the governor.
Two of the hoses were delivered to the governor’s Sports aide on Tuesday while another two were handed over on Thursday at the stadium.
The All Stars also supplied chemicals to fight termites moulding hills on some portions of the pitch .
Technical Advisor on Sports Development, Dr Osetoba who thanked the All Stars for their support over the years also lauded them for their cooperation and understanding.
She promised that everything humanly possible to ensure the pitch is certified fit to host National League matches will be done adding that the League inspection team is expected to arrive Ekiti State soon , hence the need to put the pitch in good shape ahead of the team’s arrival.
The governor’s aide said the failure to have the pitch certified will force the State football teams to play their league matches outside the State like it happened to Ekiti United FC last NNL season, a development which led to the team’s relegation to the NLO which is the country’s third tier league from the second tier.
Dr Osetoba called for more support and cooperation from every stakeholder to complement government’s efforts at developing Sports.
