Ekiti United Resume Training for NNL New Year Showdown Against Osun United

Ekiti United FC have wasted no time turning the page on the holidays, returning to the training pitch with clear intent as attention shifts to their first competitive test of the incoming year against Osun United.

The Nigeria National League side resumed training on Sunday, December 28, following the Christmas break, beginning preparations for the January 4, 2026 encounter at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium. A total of 28 players were present at the session, signaling near-full squad readiness ahead of the much-anticipated South West derby.

Training was conducted under the supervision of the Team Manager and the entire technical crew, with Chief Coach Bolarinwa Idris leading proceedings. He was supported by his assistants and other members of the technical department, who ensured an intense, well-structured workout.

The session focused on fitness recovery, tactical drills and team coordination, as Ekiti United aim to sustain momentum when league action resumes. The approach reflects the club’s ambition to build on a strong home record, having won all four of their home matches in the NNL this season.

Ekiti United ended the 2025 football year in fourth position on the Nigeria National League Conference B table, with 12 points and a +1 goal difference, underlining their steady progress and competitiveness heading into the new year.

According to a press release issued by the club’s Media Manager, Blessing Akinyemi, discipline and hard work remain central to the team’s preparations, with confidence high that the squad can deliver another solid performance against Osun United.
