Ekiti United Thrash Oriade FC 4–1 in Preseason Friendly Ahead of NNL Return
ADO-EKITI, Nigeria (SPORTIVE) — Ekiti United FC continued their fine preseason form with a resounding 4–1 victory over Oriade FC of Osogbo, as the Ado-Ekiti-based side intensified preparations for the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
The friendly match, played in Ikere Township Stadium, Ikere-Ekiti came shortly after the club officially signed its 28-man squad for the new campaign. The fixture provided a perfect platform for the newly registered players to impress – and they did not disappoint.
Midfielder Dotun Aladejana opened the scoring in the very first minute, setting the tone for an entertaining encounter. Olaoluwa Elegbeleye extended the lead in the 52nd minute with a composed strike, before Abiodun Omolaoye made it 3–0 in the 63rd minute. Kayode Yusuf then sealed the victory in the 78th minute, capping off an impressive team display.
Oriade FC managed to score a consolation goal, but Ekiti United’s dominance throughout the match underlined their growing cohesion and readiness for the season ahead.
With several friendly matches already played as part of their build-up, Ekiti United’s performance against Oriade FC reflects a team gradually taking shape under the technical guidance of the coaching crew, who are focused on achieving promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The Ado-Ekiti side will kick off their 2025/2026 NNL campaign in November with a much-anticipated clash against Stormers SC, a familiar opponent expected to test the team’s readiness.
