Ekiti State SWAN to Award Osetoba, Royal Fathers and Sport Icons
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ekiti State chapter, will on Wednesday, October 1, stage a three-in-one program to mark Nigeria’s Independence Day and the creation of Ekiti State.
The event will feature an award ceremony, a novelty football match, and donations of sports kits.
Dr. Olusola Osetoba, Technical Adviser on Sports to the Ekiti State Governor, will receive a special award for her role in sports development. Other honourees include the Olosi of Osi-Ekiti, Oba Steve Alabi; the Olukere of Odo-Oja, Ikere-Ekiti, Oba Ganiyu Obasoyin; and the Olufaki of Ifaki-Ekiti, Oba John Adegbenro Falore, who will be decorated as SWAN Royal Fathers.
Sen. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele and Mr. Olaniyi John will be installed as Grand Patrons, while Otunba Olayisade Ojo and Hon. Kola Adu will be unveiled as Patrons. Prince Micheal Ogungbemi, Chairman of Ajoni LCDA, and former House of Representatives member, Hon. Bimbo Daramola, are also listed among recipients of SWAN awards.
A friendly football match between English Sport Writers and Yoruba Sport Writersis scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Ball & Ball Events Center, Petim Estate, Iworoko Road, Adebayo, Ado-Ekiti.
The event is expected to draw stakeholders from across Ekiti’s sporting community, blending celebration of statehood with recognition of individuals whose contributions have advanced youth and sports development.
