Ekiti Governor , Senate Leader, Oba Alabi, Owoseni , Others From Ekiti Bag National SWAN Awards at 60th Anniversary
The MKO National stadium in Abuja will today and tomorrow host several key sports stakeholders from across the country as the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) holds its 60th Anniversary .
The two day program which features several events including lectures, novelty match between National Sports Commission and
Veteran Sports Writers, Investiture and Awards of excellence .
Among those that will bag National honours are the governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji who is to be honoured as the Best Sports Performing Governor in Southwest Nigeria and the Senate Leader, Senator Micheal Opeyemi Bamidele who is to be honoured as the Best Sports Performing Senator in Southwest Nigeria.
Others From Ekiti State who will be honoured are the Olosi of Osi Ekiti, Oba Steve Alabi being a former National SWAN President, first SWAN chairman in Ekiti State, Mr Toyin Ayoola, current SWAN Chairman in Ekiti State, Qozeem Oladapo as well as former First Vice President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, Mr Yemi Owoseni.
The Ekiti born persaonalir are to be honoured by the National body of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in
recognition and appreciation of their individual strides a d efforts at developing Sports in th State and Nigeria at large through their profession and their resources.
Scores of other SWAN members who have contributed immensely to the success story of the Association,from the South West Zone comprising Ekiti, Ondo,Osun, Oyo, Ogun and Lagos States in the past years shall be recognised and will be honoured at the SWAN @ 60 Golden jubilee anniversary.
The Southwest Vice President of SWAN , Ayodeji Ogunsakin who lauded the National body of the association for the initiative noted that the initiative would further spur the award recipients to rededicate themselves and their services to the overall development of Sports in Nigeria.
Ogunsakin added that the contributions of the selected members from the South West will remain indelible in the anal of SWAN.
