Organizer Unveils Fixtures for 2026 Prof. Akin Oyebode Cup
The match fixtures for the 2026 Prof. Akin Oyebode Cup have been officially released ahead of the commencement of this year’s grassroots football tournament.
The fifth edition of the competition, themed “Building to Last,” is scheduled to kick off on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, with all group stage matches taking place at the Ikole Township Stadium.
The release of the fixtures follows the tournament draws conducted on July 14, giving participating teams ample time to fine-tune their preparations ahead of the championship.
By adopting a centralised venue for the group stage, the organisers aim to create an exciting match-day atmosphere while providing football fans, talent scouts, coaches, and other stakeholders with easier access to the competition.
The tournament is being organised in partnership with Afriskaut and Sofascore to enhance player data collection, improve talent identification, and raise the overall standard of the competition.
Meanwhile, Organising Head, Pelumi Abiara, is currently on a consultation tour of all 16 Local Government Areas of Ekiti State, engaging football stakeholders to foster collaboration and ensure the successful staging of the tournament.
The Prof. Akin Oyebode Cup has continued to establish itself as one of Ekiti State’s leading grassroots football competitions, providing a platform for young talents to showcase their abilities while contributing to the growth of football across the state.
