BUREAU OF SPECIAL PROJECTS INSPECTS ONGOING EKITI INDOOR SPORTS HALL, REFLECTING GOVERNOR OYEBANJI’S VISIONARY DRIVE
The Bureau of Special Projects, led by Architect Tope Ogunleye, carried out a technical inspection of the ongoing Ekiti State Indoor Sports Hall construction today in Ado-Ekiti. Located directly behind the Ekiti Kete Pavilion, the facility is one of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s top-priority projects aimed at elevating sports development in the state.
Thursday’s visit focused on evaluating structural milestones, workmanship, and alignment with approved specifications. Architect Ogunleye expressed confidence in the execution pace and technical precision. “What we’re seeing on-site today is structurally sound and also reflective of meticulous approach to impactful infrastructure. The contractor has shown consistency in delivering to expectations,” he noted.
Initiated during the Governor’s second year anniversary in 2024, the Indoor Hall is designed to international specifications, with facilities for basketball, volleyball, handball, and other indoor sports. The multi-sport facility also includes changing rooms, athlete recovery spaces, restrooms, and spectator seating. Once completed, it will host local, national and international tournament and serve as a training base for elite and emerging talents.
Governor Oyebanji’s strategy for youth advancement is strongly rooted in building functional, enduring sports infrastructure. The Indoor Sports Hall is part of a broader blueprint that includes the upgrade of Oluyemi Kayode Stadium and multiple satellite stadiums across the state.
According to Technical Adviser on Sports Development to Governor, Dr. Olusola Osetoba, the project is more than a sports arena. “It’s a launchpad for grooming talents and attracting national attention to Ekiti’s sporting potential,” she emphasized.
As the Indoor Sports Hall project is taking shape, it signals a new chapter for sports in Ekiti — one defined by precision-driven planning, strategic investment, and purposeful leadership.
