Osetoba, Sports Stakeholders Storm Governor’s Office In Unshaken Endorsement Of Oyebanji’s Re-election
Earlier today, a massive crowd of sports stakeholders in Ekiti State took to the streets in a spirited march from the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium to the Governor’s Office, firmly declaring their support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s second term bid ahead of the June 2026 elections.
The crowd, filled with energy and purpose, was led by Dr. Olusola Osetoba, Technical Advisor on Sports Development to the Governor, and Hon. Odebunmi, Chairman of the House Committee on Sports. From all corners of the state, sports associations turned out in full force—Ekiti State Sports Development Trust Fund, Professional Footballers Association, Football Association, Judo, Cricket, Supporters Club, Sports Person with disability, and more—waving banners and singing pro-Oyebanji chants as they moved in unison.
Also present were key figures in the Ekiti sports space, including Hon. Tunde Adesanya and Hon. Kolawole Owoseni (Special Advisers on Sports), Aare Olu Oloworemo (Football Association Chairman), Alhaji Qozeem Oladapo (SWAN Chairman and Trust Fund Board Member) and others.
Speaking passionately at the rally, Dr. Osetoba said, “We have come out openly and collectively to declare our total support for Governor Oyebanji’s second term. From the ground up, we’ve felt the impact. The Oluyemi Kayode Stadium is being upgraded and the dreams of our youth are no longer gathering dust. This is why we’re standing boldly today—to say we are not ready for a step back.”
The crowd was received by Dr. Abibat Adubiaro, Chief Jide Awe, Hon. Mary Osho, and other dignitaries. Dr. Adubiaro, visibly moved, said, “This voluntary show of loyalty means so much. Let’s take this passion beyond the streets—get your voter cards ready and let’s speak again with our votes in June 2026.”
Chief Jide Awe also praised the sports sector for standing tall in unity. He said, “Ekiti sports is moving forward, and we can all see it. Let’s not just sing it—let’s seal it at the ballot.”
Hon. Odebunmi added, “This is not just a courtesy walk. It is a strong and intentional declaration that we, the Ekiti sports family, are standing solidly behind Governor Oyebanji. We know his impact, and we are ready to back him again in 2026 without hesitation.”
The event sent a clear message—Ekiti’s sports community is not sitting on the fence. With one voice, they have stepped out, not just to cheer, but to take a stand. For them, continuity means progress, and Governor Oyebanji remains the man they believe can keep the ball rolling.
