Akintomiwa Assumes Ekiti Sports Journalist Welfare Role

Ekiti State’s sports media landscape ushers in a promising chapter as Akintomiwa Bolarinwa takes the helm as Welfare Officer for the state Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN). The November 1, 2023, elections saw Bolarinwa, a reputable journalist from SPORTIVE, committing to the prosperity of his fellow SWAN members.

The ceremony also marked the re-installment of returning executives within the chapter: Qozeem Oladapo as Chairman, Bisi Ogunleye as Secretary, and Kehinde Durodola as Treasurer. Alo Abiola ascended to Vice Chairman, with Adedeji Egbebi and Bolarinwa stepping in as Assistant Secretary and Welfare Officer. Ademola Atobaba who is unavoidably absent is expected to inaugurated in due course.

Distinguished guests, including Hon. Sunday Ola, Chairman of the Ekiti State Sports Commission, underscored the crucial part these executives play in promoting sports journalism excellence. SWAN National President Mr. Isiah Benjamin congratulated the team, underscoring the significance of unity in achieving overarching goals.

The newly inaugurated executive board, serving until 2027, is tasked with fortifying support systems and member welfare.
