MOB Cup 2024 registration date approved
In preparation for the second edition of the Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele soccer cup competition among football teams in Ekiti central senatorial district, the main organizing committee for the championship has been constituted with Honourable Sola Fakanle being named as the chairman.
The committee’s team leader is Honourable Banji Gbenga while Mr Olubunmi Oguntuase, the senior legislative aide to the Senator will serve as the secretary.
The chairman of the Ekiti State football association, Mr Olu Oloworemo and a former chairman of Sports writers association of Nigeria in Ekiti state Mr Toyin Ayoola are also part of the team while Honourable Funso Bamidele is the special adviser.
At the maiden meeting of the committee held in Ado Ekiti which was presided over by the team leader, Honourable Gbenga Banji, the committee resolved that registration for the preliminaries of the championship which will begin on the first of October 2024 will last for two weeks.
The championship which is for both male and female football teams in Ekiti central senatorial district is christened “MOB UNITY CUP.
The football championship is a yearly competition put in place by the Senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial district in the National Assembly, Micheal Opeyemi Bamidele.
It is aimed at fostering unity among the people of Ekiti state and support the grassroots sports development program of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
The local Government Councils taking part in the championship are, Ado, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Efon, Ekiti West and Ijero.
It could be recalled that Senator Opeyemi Bamidele MOB recently embarked on the construction of modern stadia across towns and villages in by the Ekiti Central Senatorial District as part of his efforts at promoting and developing sporting activities in Ekiti state.
