Team Ekiti records impressive results at National Youth Games zonal elimination

Ekiti State representatives who featured at the just concluded National Youth Games Zonal Elimination in Osogbo, Osun State are returning home with joyful hearts after the remarkable results secured at the 3 day event.

Team Ekiti came first in 3 games to claim 3 gold and finished second in 4 games to clinch 4 silver out of 6 games.

With the impressive results, out seven games, Ekiti State picked  qualification tickets for 5 ball games .

The games in which  Team Ekiti qualified included  Male & Female Beach volleyball , Male Hockey, Female Handball, Male Volleyball and Female Cricket.

With the feat, the Ekiti  Coaches who met the Aides to Governor Biodun Oyebanji led by the Technical Advisor on Sports Development, Dr Olusola Osetoba dedicated the victories to the governor.

The Coaches said the best way they could say thank you to the governor for his unrivaled and unequalled moral and financial support despite the global economic crunch was by winning laurels through sports for the State.

The coaches unanimously commended the open door policy of the governor’s Sports aides and saluted the governor’s zeal and commitment to the development of Sports and empowerment of teeming youths.

They vowed to prepare harder in a bid to win more laurels at the National Youth Games in Asaba starting from 9th of this month.

The coaches reiterated that no previous governor has showed dedication and interest in Sports like the incumbent governor, hence they promised to keep supporting his administration through impressive results at both National and international sporting tournaments for the State to regain its rightful position as the hub of Sports talents in the country.

The Technical Advisor on Sports Development, Dr Olusola Osetoba in her characteristic nature could not hide her joy danced and rejoiced with the young boys and girls saying they have done the State proud through their hard earned qualification for 5 ball games out of 7 that Team Ekiti contested in at the Zonal Elimination.

She promised that more goodies await the Sports men and women including athletes, coaches, administrators and enthusiasts courtesy of governor Biodun Oyebanji.

She urged Team Ekiti not to be distracted by the qualification as the ultimate goal is to win gold at the National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.

Dr Osetoba also thanked the coaches for their team spirit, purposeful leadership and foresight which helped them to discover raw talents from the streets who are being moulded into international standards.

The governor’s aide was full of compensation for her principal whom she described as a dogged lover of Sports saying Ekiti was lucky to have governor Oyebanji who has been able to touch every facet of human endeavour including Sports at the helm of affairs at this time .

The Team Ekiti has just arrived Ado Ekiti from Osogbo and will swiftly start preparing for the National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta holding from 9th September to 21st September.
